Gimbalgolf
The Northern Quarter Gallery Manchester, UK 2003
A gimbal-mounted, golf maze game played via CCTV – exhibited at the Crazy Art Golf show:
"Squeezed into The Northern Quarter Gallery are eighteen holes of golf created by some of the UK's most promising artists and designers. It takes a few minutes to realise that they actually want you to play a real game of golf with these exhibits - (it was the score card that finally convinced me. Well that or the fact that they handed me a golf club). The rattle of the ball across 3000 glass marbles, the electric guitar twangs of hole 9 and the nakedness of hole 12 never allow you to think that you're really on a crazy golf course as opposed to visiting an art gallery. The various holes make you think, smile, discuss, cheat, wonder, look more closely and occasionally curse (as your ball bounces off the course and down the stairs). But there is something a little more sobering about the final hole, hole 18 as you try to get your ball into the coffin. Crazy Art Golf works for me. Give it a try and see if you can beat my course record of 108."
